Greenwood, originating from the combination of two previous names, Greenland and Land of the Big Woods, was incorporated in 1891. Greenwood, the center of Clark County, boasts a thriving agricultural industry evident by the prosperous farms and milk processing plants along with, Grassland Dairy, one of the largest butter plants in the United States. Summer events include June Dairy Days, the Stampede Run/Walk, a 45-mile bicycle race held in July, Concerts in the Park, truck pull, mud-bog race, street dance and numerous softball tournaments. Enjoy the Christmas Tour of Homes held the second Saturday in December every other year, and don’t forget to visit with Santa. The tour will be held again in 2008. Also, visit the Branstiter Main Streets of Greenwood Museum.
