The small recreational community of Hatfield is nestled along the Clark County and Jackson County border. Fishing and swimming enthusiasts find Lake Arbutus a beautiful body of water well suited to fit their needs with six boat landings. The nine miles of shoreline affords boaters, water skiers, campers, canoeists and fishermen a pine-forested recreation area in an unspoiled wilderness. Anglers can enjoy both lake and river fishing in Hatfield. The lake produces walleye and northern pike, muskellunge, crappie and bass. The Black River, feeding the lake and below the dam, also offers catfish. Trout streams can be found nearby.

Clark and Jackson Counties rank in the top five for annual deer kill making the Hatfield area a great place for hunting. In the winter, the Hatfield area offers cross country and downhill skiing. Snowmobilers can connect to more than 400 miles of well groomed trails in the immediate Hatfield area. Bruce Mound winter sports area is located just three miles east of Hatfield offering inner tubing and skiing.

Lake Artbutus area has three well-maintained campsites, a roped-off sand beach, electric hook-ups, showers and toilets, and a small store are on site. Hatfield offers bait shops along with gas and grocery stores.

Large flea markets are held on Memorial Day Weekend, the 4th of July weekend, the 2nd weekend in August and Labor Day Weekend.

The Hatfield Chamber sponsors a large fireworks display is held over Lake Arbutus during the 4th of July weekend. Excellent food is available at local supper clubs and lounges. Motels and cabins, along with a roller skating rink and miniature golf are available. For entertainment, Majestic Pines, Bingo and Casino, is located just six miles away near Black River Falls.
