City of Loyal

Loyal was so named because of the patriotic nature of the men of the pioneer town who went off to protect the Union during the Civil War in the 1860s. Logging and pioneer farming brought settlers to the area which is now known well for its productive land and dairy heritage. The city of Loyal was established in 1870.

Loyal is the place "Where City and Country Meet" proclaim banners that hang on the city's Main Street. Loyal is but a 15 minute drive to the city of Marshfield and its top-notch health care facilities, yet it's only 15 minutes in the other direction to get to county forest land, fishing opportunities and other rural attractions.

Loyal may be best know for its annual late August Corn Festival; a grand celebration that commemorates the end of another growing season. Natives return home for the Corn Fest, and folks from all over the area would not miss a chance at a cob or two of the event's namesake sweet corn. Loyal is also home to the American Legion Post #175, which operates the largest banquet and dance facility in the area.

The city has three parks, a softball diamond, volleyball and tennis courts, and a golf course. The city recently built a new City Hall, and an industrial park which has developed in the past five years is already home to three industries. Loyal is a progressive community, with sound streets, modern utility systems and room for growth. And of course, Loyal's residents like it here. You might say they're downright "Loyal" to their community.
